Scaffolding

Today, Saturday, the scaffolding installation was finished. Quite some progress in comparison with previous weeks. I hope progress keeps going even though the weather seems to be adverse next week.

Gutter and fascia were delivered yesterday.

Brick Laying has started ... a month late

Hi, finally last week the brick laying has started, almost one month after it was expected, apparently WH can't cope with the demand and they are short of brick layers. Well, what should I care about it? We are paying for a house to be build, we are not getting it done for free, so as a minimum we were expecting the builder will have the personnel to accomplish its core business activity (build houses).

It has been very frustrating, first the weather and then in top of that the additional delay for the shortage of brick layers... WH seems to be taking more businesses that they can do or they don't care much about their customers. I hope they can make up for this delay, it is not just that we may get the house a month late, but any delay means lost money in extra weeks of rent from our current apartment.

This is how the house is looking today, the off-white doesn't look off-white, but as my neighbour told me, it may be that we need to wait a little bit and once is dry it may look different.

Brick lying is coming...

Last Friday we received a call from our SS, he mentioned that we will need to wait for some of the brick layers to finish their delayed jobs.. So, I guess no much will happen this week. However, yesterday the cement and sand was delivered. We took a brick home, so we can see it on daylight time. It looks a little bit more brownish that the samples we have and it has some very small red spots. Doesn't look bad at all, just a little bit different. Let's see how they look once they are in place.

Slow, slow, slow as you can go...

Last 2 weeks have been really slow, the weather hasn't been helping much. Last week bricks were delivered and that was it, no much to tell.  The day after the bricks were delivered we paid a visit to the site, it was around 8-9pm. We were just having a look when someone suddenly parked in front of our lot. Two guys came off the car and started asking us some questions, what are you up to? are you the owners? they even requested me to show an identification. They told me they were police, however one of them seemed to be too young for being a police officer. I made a mistake in not asking for any identification. Anyway, it is good if the police is actually checking the state. Two or three weeks ago some robberies have been reported, approximately 16 hot water systems were stolen from DHA's houses.

This is how the house looks at the moment:

Windows were installed

Windows were installed today, tomorrow the plumber will start doing some connections. Some windows were bigger than we expected such the window in the kitchen. Some other were much more smaller, such the window at the powder room. In overall, we are happy with the progress, but we have found some small things that worry us a little. We've submitted some observations to our SS, but no response yet. I called him today, he offered to call me back tomorrow. I'll let you know the results of that once these observations are cleared up. Today, we received the second progress payment notification.. :-) man.. bills are coming quicker than we were expecting.

Frames

Hi, some extensive progress is being happening this week, even though, it rained on Tuesday. We've just came back from VP , we are really excited with the work done so far; but also a little bit sad because we can't follow the process more closely as we both work full time and the only time we can check what is happening is during the night or during weekends. Anyway, spring is coming and with longer days we will be able to go after work and at least see something in sunlight. Some photos we took today:
